So Much for the Peace and Quiet

I had been looking forward to a quiet week to get caught up the usual domestic stuff that builds up when you've been away so that I can get back to my normal work routine. As of today I'm caught up but it's been anything but peaceful around here.

A while back we made arrangements to have the exterior of our house painted. For a variety of reasons Sam kept pushing back the start date and then weather became an issue so I assumed we were going to have to wait for a bit. With clear skies being forecast for the foreseeable future the painters called and Sam told them to go ahead. So for the past two days there's been a large crew of workman swarming all over the exterior pounding, scraping and prepping everything.

Our poor dog is completely freaking out with all the strange men hanging around making all kinds of strange noises. They pressure washed the stucco today, which was really loud, and I thought she was going to go out of her mind poor thing. So I loaded her in the car and drove over to a nearby lake that has some good trails around it and we took a nice long walk together.

Tomorrow, noisy or not, it's time to kick myself into high gear. I've got a column due Monday and two books to read and review by the end of next week. The boys have a lot of stuff going on this weekend and I'll be driving them here and there and needing to wait for them so I'll get a fair bit of reading done while I'm waiting at least.
